The main entrance to the Capri Theater and Community Hall, located at the center of the building on West Broadway and under a marquee, is wheelchair accessible. (You’ll see directional signage for this in the parking lot and at the rear of the building.)
About:
The Capri is owned and operated by PCYC, a strong, 69-years-young, community-based nonprofit with a rich history of delivering exceptional education, arts, and youth programming to children, families, the North Minneapolis community, and beyond. Built in 1927, The Capri Theater is the only one of 13 movie houses in North Minneapolis that remains standing today. It provides the Northside and metro-wide community with countless opportunities to experience and produce art, to create and implement ideas, and to Be Together.
Although COVID-19 is no longer declared a pandemic, it is still extremely contagious, especially to those who are unvaccinated or have a weakened immune system. The Festival cannot guarantee that attendees will not become infected with COVID-19 when attending the show.
Following the CDC recommendations for Ventilation in Buildings, the Capri is equipped with a state-of-the-art bipolar ionization airflow system and MERV 14 air filters. They’ve also implemented enhanced cleaning practices throughout the building per the CDC recommendations for Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility.
Masks, regular hand washing, and social distancing are all encouraged. Please stay home if you do not feel well or have been exposed to someone who may have had COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
Ultimately, it is up to audience members to decide whether they are comfortable attending an in-person show. Check local case numbers before making the decision to attend in person or participate virtually.
If an in-person ticket is purchased but needs to be transferred to become a virtual ticket due to COVID, please contact us right away.
Capri Theater Accessibility:
- The entrance, stage, backstage, and green room areas are all on one floor and are wheelchair accessible.

- Theater-style seating is used, and accessible wheelchair transfer seats and companion seating are available.
- No fast/fancy lights or fog will be used.
- Trigger warnings (if needed) and the length of each act will be given so that audience members have an opportunity to leave the space for a moment and know when to come back
- Assistive listening devices are available. Please contact us at least 5 days before the show to set this up.
- Please let us know if there are any accommodations we can provide to help you participate more fully in our festival. While we cannot guarantee that we can fulfill every request, we will do our best.
Parking:
Parking is free along 23rd Avenue North. There is a pathway to either go up a set of stairs or up a ramp and around to the front door. You can also take the ramp to the Capri Stage Door. This is a wheelchair-accessible entrance that will take you through the building to the box office. Our goal is to have someone ready to open the door for you. If there is not a person there, push the button on the wall and someone will come let you in.
Transit:
- A stop for bus lines 14C, 14D, and 14E is in front of the Theater (52 feet away).
- A stop for 14N and 14R is across the street (197 feet away).
- The Metro C line West Broadway Station is at the end of the block (0.2 miles away).
Entering the building:
After going through the main entrance, the ticketing booth will be in front of you. Please purchase tickets if you have not done so already.
If parking on 23rd Ave N and using the Stage Entrance, please use the buzzer if no one is there to let you in. You will then take a straight path into the open event space, take a right, and the ticket booth will be on your right.
To the left of the ticket and concession area will be an open area where some of our performers will be selling their wares and the entrance to the theater.
There will be concessions, but this will be an alcohol-free event.
